i'm teaching myself to fillet braze bicycle frames.
the best part about fillet brazing bike frames is that you can clean up the fillets by filing them smooth to make beautiful transitions between the tubes. i ain't doin that. i plan to leave my fillets raw and lumpy and try to get my technique down so that they look nice without all the filing.
with each new frame i modify my brazing gets better. i'm hoping that as i do more frames you'll be able to see my skill improving just by looking back on the previous frames.
i don't have all of the tools to build one from scratch just yet, so to get my fillet brazing chops down i've been customizing existing frames.
these early frames are gonna be ugly, which is why i've landed on feo for my fake bike company name.

1/41
first modified frame, 90s specialized hard rock - 2024
on this hard rock, i shortened the rear end and added horizontal dropouts, adjusted the seat and head tube angles, and replaced the 1" headtube with a 1.125" headtube.

1/30
second modified frame, 90s gt outpost - 2024
second modified frame, 90s gt outpost - 2024
with this gt, like the hard rock, i shortened the rear end and added horizontal dropouts, adjusted the seat and head tube angles, and replaced the 1" headtube with a 1.125" headtube.

1/11
third modified frame, 00s bianchi peregrine - 2025
i modified this bianchi frame and fork for the santa fe bike polo club. i took this old mountain bike and shortened up the rear end and gave it horizontal dropouts, adjusted the seat and headtube angle slightly, and added a disc tab to the original fork.
this bike is a loaner for new people who would like to try out bike polo.

1/16
fourth modified frame, 80s alpine sassy 16 - 2025
on this little cutie i modified the frame and for to accept a modern wheelset. believe it or not, my 6'1" buddy plays bike polo on this bike.
i widened the rear of the frame to accept the new wheel, witch included removing the original stay bridges and replacing them with my feo bridges.
the fork had its dropouts replaced and respaced, brake tab added, and the inside of one fork blade was modified to make room for the brake rotor. this was a fun one!
